Paphos (or Pafos) is the former capital of Cyprus and a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.  The northern part of the city is where the majority of the tourist spots are to be found, with vibrant nightlife orientated around a younger crowd.  You will also find charming cafes and a picturesque fishing harbour if you can drag yourself away from the beaches.

There are four of them to choose from, with beautiful white sands and crystal clear waters.  Plenty of water sports are on offer, as are little rocky coves along the coastline for exploring.

Venture to the southern part of the town for the remarkable archaeological sites on offer and soak up the local history.  Paphos is said to be the birthplace of the love goddess, Aphrodite.  There are plenty of related mosaics and sites worth seeing, making Paphos a good destination for a romantic getaway.

For a break from the tourist spots, the centre of town as regarded by locals is Kitma.  This is where you can experience the traditional slower-paced Cypriot lifestyle with colonial architecture to admire and delicious local cuisine to feast on.
