Limassol (Lemesos)

Limassol is Cyprus’ second largest city, divided into the redeveloped Old City and the Old Fishing Harbour. 

Its nightlife is rivalled only by that of Ayia Napa, and is seen to be a little rough around the edges.  Formerly home to a number of brothels, the area is in the process of re-branding itself as a respectable destination for theatre-goers. 

There is a focus on industry and the city’s commercial centre, but you can also find stylish shops, bars and restaurants around the former Turkish quarter and fishing harbour.  And of course, not to be missed are the sandy stretches and stunning waters of the coast.

From Limassol, you can visit Kolossi Castle and a number of archaeological sites if you’re looking for a little culture on your holiday.  It is also home to a variety of festivals over the summer months, including one that celebrates Cypriot wines.
