Larnaca hosts on of the main airports in Cyprus and may be spelt Larnaka on your plane tickets. It boasts miles of sandy beaches and a picturesque seafront promenade. Lounge in the sun, let loose with water sports, go fishing, try a camel ride and bring the kids to the fun park, you can do it all in Larnaca.
The palm tree-lined promenade is where you will find a line of Cyprus bars and local and international restaurants from which you can sit back and take in the views. Or, bars, pubs and clubs are plentiful if you’re looking for something a little livelier.
Away from the seafront, you will find quaint mazes of streets and a taste of the old Larnaca. Interspersed with this are familiar high street shops and a modern marina, displaying the new that is slowly seeping into this old town.
Visit the museums, the 9th century church of St. Lazarus and the historic monastery and Muslim shrine for a little local history or check out the migratory flamingos that are to be seen at the nearby salt lakes during certain months of the year.
